Some Basic Abbreviations and Definitions of Airsoft(II)

Last week, I posted some basic abbreviations about airsoft gun. As we know, besides airsoft guns, airsofters also need to get other equipment such as combat gear, aeg parts and accessories etc.So I wanna make a abbreviation list of something that I googled about airsoft .

FPS (Feet Per Second)

The system of speed measurement used to tell how fast an airsoft gun can propell a BB, or in other words, the velocity at which your bbs are leaving the barrel. Some players use MPS, meters per second, instead. Both systems equal the same muzzle velocity when the units are converted. The higher the FPS, the faster the BB is going. FPS is found by Chronoing the gun with a Chronograph machine.

MOLLE System (MOdular Lightweight Load-carrying Equipment)

An advanced webbing system that lets you customize your LBV and thigh rigs as well as backpacks. MOLLE is used by the American Military, and airsofters have began to integrate it into their loadouts.

ROF (Rate of Fire)

The rate of fire is the amount of rounds ejected from the gun in a certain amount of time. Usually ROFpM (Rate of fire per minute).

LBV (Load Bearing Vest)

Usually just known as vests. LBVs just carry all of your magazines/equipment. The most common type on airsoft websites is the UTG Crossdraw or similar models.

CQB (Close Quarters Battle)

Usually conducted inside buildings (warehouses, offices, etc.)…Also referred to as “SWAT Style” combat. Interchangeable with CQC.

CQC (Close Quarter Combat)

Interchangeable with the term CQB.

Standard Magazine

Holds 60-70 rounds in an AEG and comes with most stock AEGs.

Hi-Cap

A high-capacity magazine. Usually holds 200-500 rounds for an AEG and 30-40 in a handgun.

Mid-Cap

A mid-capacity magazine. Depending on the manufacturer may hold 90-120 rounds for an AEG.

Low-Cap

A low-capacity magazine. Typically holds 30 rounds for an AEG, though some hold 20 rounds.

Loadout

Your gear…(the equipment you carry for a skirmish.)

Skirmish

The most commonly used and most acceptable term for an airsoft battle.

Mil-Sim ( Military Simulation)

It is a certain type of playing style that replicates real military tactics and load out style as closely as possible.

Spec Ops (Special Operations)

Typically used when referring to US Special Forces, Navy Seals, Delta Force, Rangers, or Force Recon detachments. Spec Ops teams work in small groups for a multitude of missions, often operating behind enemy lines and with absolute secrecy.
