     Airsoft guns came out from Japan. When they were first introduced and marketed globally in 1980s, they hit the world significantly. Because airsoft guns resemble to the real gun, they become more and more popular and airsoft becomes a new entertainment and sports.

Normally, guns are sorted to airsoft rifle, airsoft sniper rifle, airsoft pistols and shotguns. Also they can be mainly divided into three kinds :airsoft electric guns, airsoft gas guns and airsoft spring guns, because of the different shooting motive power .

     The airsoft electric gun is a battery-operated type of airsoft gun. It's the most popular kind. Moreover, as the fact it is battery-operated, you should choose the right rechargeable battery among various types of batteries. Although it is popular, they are very pricey to own.

     Another type is airsoft gas gun. It is considered as the most powerful type among these three. Because the BB’s or plastic pellets are fired through a pressurized gas, you really need to visit a store every time for gas when you want to play airsoft. 

     Compared to gas and electric airsoft guns, airsoft spring gun is not that popular. It can be a semi-automatic or an automatic one. You need to re-cock it before you shoot. The time-consuming re-cocking approach is the main reason why it's not popular. Airsoft sniper rifle is typically a type of spring gun.
